English Language and Literature Department
The department opened together with the University. The main purpose is to provide the students with good practical and deep theoretical knowledge and enable them to work not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also abroad. The department is multinational: our students are from Afghanistan, Turkey, Chad, Mozambique, Nigeria Tajikistan. We teach English as a second mother tongue. Our instructors are from England, Island, USA, Kyrgyzstan with PH.D. Three of them are professors. Instructors improve they qualification in Turkey, England, USA.
In the first course students of all faculties study only English. On the second course they begin to study in their own faculty, where all the subjects are held in English. In the first course for teaching English we take Oxford University program and text-books of different levels which are based on the world TOSL program. Students are clustered in different level groups, so that teaching was not difficult or boring for them. The German language is taught as a foreign language.
One of the main goals of the department is to improve scientific research activities of students and instructors. The students of the department write essays, course works from the second course. Best course works are offered to be worked out as diploma works. The department insists the instructors to choose such scientific research topics, that they could be developed as PH.D. or masters’ degrees. The department seeks talented researchers.
