Short Story Reading Conference - Joint Project of Groups B 100 & B 110

arch 30, 2012. Groups B100 & B110, and their Main Course instructor Shurubu Karimova, Acting Docent of IAAU,   conducted a Short Story Reading Conference - Joint Project of two groups. Rector of IAAU, Prof. Dr. Ali Ayata, General Secretary Suleiman Shenturk, Head of SYT Department Yahiya Polat, Head of ELT department (LTD) Tinatin Jakshylykova, instructors of the department and students were the guests of the Conference. Prof. Dr. Ali Ayata addressed the participants and guests and expressed his gratitude to the participants and Shurubu Karimova for the organization   of the interesting conference and wished them success.

As Shurubu Karimova said it was the second project of these groups in the frame of Project Based Learning during this academic year. The first project was in the Fall Semester when these students visited other groups with their presentations.

The second project was unusual in different aspects.
Firstly, it was a joint project of groups B 100 (students from ordinary schools) and B110 (students from Turkish high schools); they organized 10 joint groups to work together.

Secondly, it was a Short Story Reading Conference where each group came with group presentation after having done the research on a chosen short story (from Short Story Collection for Analytical Reading, selected and carried out by Sh.Karimova).

Thirdly, students learned to work in teams, groups, where each contributed to the final result, learned from each other, benefited from each other; they learned to be responsible for own part of work as well as for the final result; they learned to be creative and active; they learned to tolerate each other’s opinions, to cooperate and correlate; they learned to think critically, to support own ideas.

Finally, students have acquired the practical experience of preparation and presentation of the research work which would be helpful in their future academic lives.
