Walt Disney Internship for IAAU Students

The collaboration between Troy University and IAAU has resulted in internship opportunities for IAAU students in Walt Disney facilities in Orlando, Florida.

First group of students have started the program in August 2009.

Students enrolled with Troy University’s Global Campus will have the option to enroll in an Academic Internship option for approximately six months at Walt Disney World Resort. While working at the Walt Disney World Resort students will take at least two pre-approved transferable courses offered by Disney Education for six credit hours as well as six credit hours of internship to earn a total of 12 credit hours.

Academic Training at the

Walt Disney World Resort: Students are placed in entry-level positions at one of the four Theme Parks, two Water Parks or over 15 Resort Hotels at Walt Disney World Resort. Students work a minimum of 30-hours per week at a pay rate of $7.21-$8.48 per hour depending on role. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate and 12 academic credit hours from Troy University.

Disney International Programs Accommodations:

Students live in fully-furnished two or four bedroom apartments with 24-hour security located near the Walt Disney World Resort. A bus system provides students with transportation to work, school and social activities. An accommodation charge that covers the housing fee, utilities, high speed internet, local phone service and transportation is payroll-deducted from students’ weekly paychecks. This charge ranges from $80-$105 per week depending on the size of the apartment and number of roommates.

Cost:

The International Academic Training Program will cost $3,000. In addition, students are responsible for the following expenses: living expenses during the program (meals and housing), insurance, airfare and ground transport roundtrip to and from Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida; J-1 Student Visa application fee and SEVIS fee for study abroad; all other personal expenses. A breakdown of all estimate cost can be requested from Troy University’s International Office.
