Hackathon “DRR CliCK for your better future” among youth and students of Kyrgyzstan

November 30, 2022

On November 26, 2022, students of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the first climate hackathon among the youth of Kyrgyzstan, which was held at the “Jannat” hotel, organized by the “Ala-Too” International University, UN Women in Kyrgyzstan and the Alliance of Universities of the Kyrgyz Republic for Green Economy and Sustainable Development (AVZUR).

24 teams from several universities of Kyrgyzstan took part in the hackathon, of which 10 teams with different projects actively represented the AIU. During the event, each team was supervised by mentors, including experienced experts in the field of disaster reduction, climate change, IT specialists, as well as eco-activists. The teams developed their project proposals together with representatives of 11 pilot Aiyl Okmotu for further implementation. The products developed by the students will be adapted for use in pilot communities.

DR CliCK (Climate Change Knowledge) is a hackathon for creating projects over a certain period of time. This event contributes to the generation of creative ideas for the creation of information and educational content for teenagers and youth, the regional population and their ways of promotion, also provides an opportunity to immerse students and youth in the problems through gaming techniques.

It should be noted that the 2nd part of the climate hackathon will be held in AIU on December 4, 2022, where the teams will present their final projects to the jury members, which will be evaluated in the context of gender and behavioral changes.

We express our great gratitude to Nazira Esenalieva, Turdukan Bekimbetova, Ruslan Isaev, Andrey Krylov, Zuura Ashimova and Ruslan Migranov for organizing a large-scale event that contributes to the development of our students and youth of Kyrgyzstan!
