Go Green Week in the Preparatory Department of AIU

February 8, 2023

Today, environmental problems exist in every part of the world. Overpopulation of the planet, climate change, air pollution and the transformation of society into a consumption machine are already making themselves felt. Now there is an urgent need to use natural resources wisely. Taking care of the environment is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. However, despite the serious damage caused to nature, humanity has every chance to return it to its original appearance. It is only necessary to start by attracting more young people to raise awareness. In this regard, the Ala-Too International University does not stand by and supports nature conservation activities.

From January 28 to February 3, 2023, the Go Green week dedicated to environmental protection was held at the Preparatory Department of the Ala-Too International University. The guest lecturer Cholponbek Ormukov, Associate professor of AUCA and an outstanding geologist of Kyrgyzstan, spoke at this event on the topics of climate change and environmental problems. He noted that the transition to “green” is the implementation of certain lifestyle changes designed to help live more environmentally friendly. This means becoming more aware of the environment and changing your behavior and lifestyle to reduce the amount of pollution and waste that you produce. Any action you take that promotes a sustainable lifestyle has a positive impact on the environment. Everyone can make small changes to their current lifestyle to change the situation for the better for the Earth and future generations.

Students of this department actively participated in the “green” event, making presentations, discussing global changes and offering their own solutions to problems. Speaking with group projects, students talked about several ways that you can use without leaving home, because small changes in your routine can make a big difference to nature. At the end of the event, the participants were awarded certificates.

We thank Cholponbek Ormukov for providing valuable information to students, as well as the organizers for such a wonderful event!
