On November 17, 2022, a conference was held on the topic “Issues of Green economy and sustainable development in the Kyrgyz Republic”, organized by the “Ala-Too” International University, the American University of Central Asia and the Alliance of Universities of the Kyrgyz Republic for Green Economy and Sustainable Development (AVZUR). The event was held in a hybrid online-offline format.

The conference began with a welcoming speech by the Rector of AIU, Ph.D, associate professor Erdolatov Sanzharbek Saipidinovich and thanked the guests for their participation. Esenalieva Nazira Soltonbekovna, Ph.D. in Economics, associate professor and head of the department of science, Tegizbekova Zhyldyz Chynarbekovna, Ph.D, associate professor, Takenova Zhyldyz Tunguchbaevna, Ph.D, acting associate professor and Bekimbetova Turdukan Suyunalievna, head of the department of Management of the AIU, spoke on behalf of the AIU.

Students of the master's program of AIU Begimai Baktybek kyzy, Tabigat Kongaitieva, Altynai Rayimkulova and Aidana Sadykova also made presentations.

The topics of the green economy and sustainable development and family business in Kyrgyzstan, international experience in the field of management, the economics of climate change in Central Asia, the use of interactive teaching methods in the formation of ecological culture among students and other aspects were touched upon.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Kyrgyz University of Economics named after M. Ryskulbekov, Kyrgyz national agrarian university named after K.I. Scriabin, KRSU and KNU named after Zh. Balasagyn, etc.

The objectives of the conference are to increase the potential and awareness of domestic scientists, researchers, professors and experts on the topic of green economy and sustainable development, to discuss the latest innovations, trends and problems in this area, to exchange experience and research results in the field of green economy and sustainable development.

The event was held with the support of UNITAR within the framework of the project “Introduction of Green Economy education in Kyrgyz universities”, dedicated to the integration of 5 green economy courses developed and adapted to Kyrgyzstan into the curricula of Kyrgyz universities, including regional ones, as well as awareness-raising and capacity-building of university teachers in teaching green economy.
